It all started at the age of 9 when he got his first 'music instrument' a Bontempi plastic toy electric guitar - his neighbours will never forget this memorable Christmas in 1972!
His all-time's favorite: looking inside all kinds of household electrical appliances - toaster / tv / radio / vacuum cleaner etc - despite his parents total disagreement.
The Bontempi will soon be recycled in a kind of 'high frequencies/mind-blowing' feedback generator, reduced to its PCB and 'played' with a mini screwdriver pressed on the electronic circuits.
He'll come back in '79 from London with a bunch of punk records and a special taste for SKA music...
It's in Marseille during his studies in '81 that he'll meet very few musicians also fond of 'unconventional music'.
One of them, creator of the 'Utilisation du Vieux Port' french label, goes to Berlin and brings back records from the 'Industrial Avant-Garde'. He will influence Batchas future works and interests for analogue synthesizers.
They're listening to: DAF, The Residents + all Ralph Rec. releases, Negativland, Die Tödlische Doris, E.Neubauten, TG, SPK etc etc and they're producing their own music on their own labels, Mail Art and tapes, limited Vinyl editions and hand-made covers...
Batchas will also discover: Pierre Schaeffer, Pierre Henry, Nurse with Wound, Hafler Trio, Monte Cazzaza, Whitehouse and his all-time's favourite: Zoviet France.
In '85 he creates in Paris his 'Scrotum Production' label, mostly concentrating on his own productions as Batchas (from electroacoustic to industrial). It enables him to remain completely independent, from the production to the distribution process. Until '93, all releases will come out on tape in limited edition and handmade packaging.
After a couple of years living in Berlin, he'll move to Zürich.
In '93 he releases his first CD called 'Tahafut-Ul-Tahafut' on Scrotum Prod. label. He's got new contacts while working in a record store and finds easier ways to press on digital format, an interesting 'new' promising format at that time according to him.
In '95 Batchas is performing with guests musicians from Zürich at the 'Musiques Ultimes Festival' in Nevers (FR). The live performance is recorded and a LP called 'Live in Nevers' is released.
In '96 Batchas starts his website project: it's a new and promising way of communication between the artist and the auditor. A couple of months later, the site is live.
In '98, Batchas decides to stop all musical activities*.
*He performed again with Roger Rotor as Myiase and also collaborated to a very few projects. The last one was a Batchas CD containing unreleased tracks released in '97 on Monochrome Vision.
